Junior Interior Designer

 

Job Description

Whitney Schones Design is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and highly organized Interior Designer. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, common sense, strong diplomacy skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. The Junior Interior Designer reports directly to the Senior or Intermediate Interior Designer and is responsible for developing and creating technical aspects of each assigned project, under close supervision. The following description of duties is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.

This position is Full-Time with a Monday - Friday schedule located in San Antonio, TX (must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work)

 
 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in interior design/architecture preferred, or equivalent experience

  • Current Student in interior design/architecture, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience with CAD/Chief Architect

  • Ability to work full-time

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and perform duties with direction from supervisor

  • Ability to design, source and track furniture, fixtures, and finishes including custom designs for high-end residential projects

  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors and trades

  • Ability to prepare or approve quote requests, worksheets, estimates, purchase orders, and invoices

  • Ability to prepare visually enticing presentation documents.

 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Design Team members, fabricators, trades, suppliers and regulatory agencies

  • Sources furnishings, fixtures and finishes, as directed by Senior or Intermediate Interior Designer.

  • Creates design presentations for both Senior Designer approval and Client Presentation

  • Creates construction and presentation drawings and packages using AutoCAD

  • Architecture, 3D rendering, and hand rendering

  • Reviews and edits drawing packages and shop drawings, as required

  • Updates documentation regarding budgets, schedules and tracking

  • Produces quote requests, purchase orders, estimates and invoices

  • Main communication with assigned clients/jobs

  • Manages interns/Junior Designer, with supervision from Senior or Intermediate Interior Designer

  • Creates completed project binder for clients. Keeps info updated in “Monday” for DA to create project binder

 
 

 

additional DUTIES

  • Every morning, update Monday with client inquiries and internal tasks.

  • Records notes at EVERY meeting and inputs into Monday immediately after.

  • Updates Monday and keeps current after client communication/changes of scope so to lists and due dates stay current and accurate.

  • Updating Clients on open orders:

    • for larger orders that have longer lead times, update twice a month*

    • for smaller, quicker orders, with more urgency update once a week*

  • Update expense spreadsheet daily for Finance Manager

  • Junior Designer inputs billable hours for every completed task at the end of each day.

Design Assistant

 

Job Description

The Design Assistant reports directly to the Junior Interior Designer and is assigned tasks that assist the Design Team and teach valuable job skills. The following description of duties is not exhaustive and may be subject to change.

This position is Part-Time with a Monday - Friday schedule located in San Antonio, TX (must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work)

  • Expert skills with Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Excel

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time

  • Strong interpersonal/customer service skills especially when relating to high-end clients

  • Must be able to perform physical installations at job sites as needed

  • Must have good scheduling skills in order to coordinate client meetings, deliveries, and installations

  • Positive attitude, be dependable, and be flexible with other tasks as assigned

  • Strong desire to succeed, shows initiatives, and is very detail-oriented

  • Prepares client binders

  • Photocopies, provides prints and assists with presentations and other documentation

  • Coordinates with suppliers/vendors regarding product tracking and updates Jr Designer.  Checks on a weekly/daily basis for all open items.

  • Track and update Order Log on Monday when items ship/received/damaged, etc.  in an organized manner for Junior Designer to easily share with client

  • Assists on styling days and photo shoots

  • Manages Mail

  • Delivers and returns materials

  • Manage/Organize Office Supplies

  • Manage/Organize Google Drive 

  • Manage/Organize “Monday” (Client Info, Vendor Info, To Do)

  • Provides ongoing assistance as necessary 

  • Supports with Quote Requests and Order Logs

  • Schedule and manage office clean

  • Update expense spreadsheet daily for Finance Manager

  • Update client info changes to input into Monday

DESIGN INTERN

The Design Intern reports directly to the Junior Interior Designers and is assigned tasks that assist the Design Team and teach valuable job skills. The following description of duties is not exhaustive and may be subject to change. This position is ideal for someone late high-school, early college who wants to explore the world of interior design. 

This position is Part-Time with a Monday - Friday flexible schedule located in San Antonio, TX (must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work)

 
 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to drive by themselves

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and perform duties with direction from supervisor

  • Ability to take direction

 
 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Takes direction from assigned Junior Interior Designer 

  • Manages, sorts and edits the resource library

  • Prepares client binders if requested

  • Photocopies, provides prints and assists with presentations and other documentation

  • Manages Mail

  • Delivers and returns materials

  • Provides ongoing assistance as necessary 

  • Collects ALL trash from ALL bins and takes it to the dumpster (2) days a week.

  • Breakdown and remove larger trash daily. 

  • Run errands as needed by the design team
